michael owenOn December 14th Newcastle striker Michael Owen scored his 29th goal for Newcastle and celebrates his 29th birthday. Newcastle won the match against Portsmouth and the score was Newcastle 3 and Portsmouth 0. Owen scored the first goal at 51 minutes of the game. After the half time Obafemi Martins scores at 77 minutes and just before the final whistle Danny Guthrie scores the third goal for the Newcastle. The win against Portsmouth lifted out Newcastle from the relegation zone and manager Kinnear’s believes that there club is now good enough to move away from the bottom three.

Owens performance against the Portsmouth is now making Newcastle manager Kinnear desperate to keep him in the contract with the Magpies as Owen is out of the contract end of this session. However, Michael Owen is also linked with several others premier league clubs. Nevertheless Kinnear have said last week that it is unsure for Owen whether he would be in the club for next season but after the performance against Portsmouth Kinnear said: “I’ve had a good relationship with Michael from day one.”

Michael Owen was born at 14, December 1979 in Chester, England. He is at this time still England’s forth-highest scorer with forty goals. He signed Liverpool Football Club at the age of 13. In 2004 Real Madrid signed Owen for £8 million and after scoring 18 goals and played 41 games he joined Newcastle.
