FIFA Decide to Ban Ethiopian Football Federation
October 21st, 2008 admin
FIFA, world football governing body, decided to ban Ethiopia from the 2010 World Cup Football, 12 September Friday after the long-running power struggle within the sport in the African nation repeatedly failed to be resolved to restore its official familiar leaders by the agreement with February 2008. Earlier than taking this decision FIFA suspended the Ethiopian Football Federation (EFF) on 29 July Tuesday. In contrast, Ethiopian soccer authorities said on Thursday, 31 July that the suspension by FIFA was illegal and that they would take their case to the Court of arbitration for Sport (CAS).
On the other hand, recently FIFA cancelled all four football matches played by Ethiopia to date in African zone Group 8 qualifying match for world cup, and the results of those matches. Note that Ethiopia already has won two matches in the group and had gathered six points. Therefore; this group now consists of three teams such as Morocco, Mauritania and Rwanda. So if you are a devotee of Ethiopian Football, you are unable to watch Ethiopian Football Team in the world cup preliminary competition unless the suspension is lifted.
